I last saw this film over 20+ years ago,i seem to remember at the time that it was one of Hitchcock`s best films-sadly time has proved me-almost-wrong..Due to the success of the James Bond films Hitch wanted to make a spy film albeit less campy and darker than Bond. There is a full breakdown of the films behind-the-scenes on Wiki that can elaborate better than I can...As a spy film,it`s ok but as a Hitchcock film it`s pretty run-of-the-mill....but at least it`s better than Frenzy/Family Plot.

Good movie, but do prefer some of Hitchcock’s other movies.

A trip into Cubby Broccolli country for the master. I suppose once Hitch had been dragged into the sixties by the changing tide of film making, his own inimitable style was seen as old fashioned (although I don't know why - it was as sexy as could be) and thus he turned to the Bond franchise. Set in Cold War Berlin, this is a fast moving story, featuring a really sordid murder. It's really hard to kill a human being and he shows us this. All the motifs are here, complete with a heavily mutated Rheingold of Falling In Love Again.

Introduced to this classic many years ago and watching it again was just as thrilling. No violence or swearing, just a lovely story

Julie Andrews and Paul Newman, what else could you ask for ? I liked the fact that you have to constantly think ahead as to what may or may not happen in this espionage / love dual. I loved the old scenery, cars, buildings and set design. There is not much to dislike other than the fact that Paul Newman playing a professor was happy to string along his fiancee who was also his assistant, but the hardness of his actions towards her makes the plot more interesting. I decided to buy it because someone tore my curtains at my home in Harborne and the title reminded me of the damage! It was also priced very attractively and with the recent Japanese nuclear tragedy I thought I'd learn a little about the nuclear industry during the cold war period.
