I bought this to replace the vinyl I bought in the 80's, and it's still as good as I remember it.

i had raided my brothers collection many years back.Actually its a couple of decades but whos counting lol. Amongst his gems was some early TD like Phaedra and Force majeure. In the living room sat a Kord Polysix which isnt in the big leagues for synths but certainly inspires a very young lad to dip his toe into this world. Since that time my dodgy copy of white eagle has long dissapeared and i hadnt found it anywhere else despite searching. My passion for electronic music is still very real today and now i have a new remastered copy of white eagle im now revisiting old memories. Its very much classic TD and it encompasses a time in there writing and the dawn of a lot of early synth technology that had the ability to free you as well as sonically limit you at the same time. As a fan of TD,i personally found much later work lacking. This album is one of the rare chances to hear Johannes Schmoelling in full compositional flight along with the genius of Chris Franke. nowdays you have the history of synths at a fingertip via VSTI and having a world of synths from A-Z is an amazing luxury seeing as original room filling MOOG modulars run into tens of 1000's and ARP 2500's were as tempremental now as they were several decades ago. You can take all that for granted when you hear early TD work.It was stretching the technology along with Klaus Shultz and Jean Michel Jarre,Vangelis. TD always did mix natural sounds very well with artificial. The constant signature sound of the eagle is heard thru the sig track and some clever rythmic rounds and loops are showing there face in this early work. I personally find this album and force majeure a perfect combo and seem to sit well side by side.So if you have this but not the other,i strongly recommend it.Read full review
