    A lost genius.

    A difficult album to review. Syd was clearly becoming the crazy diamond. However, tracks like 'octopus' show flashes of his genius. 'pipers at the gates of dawn' remains syd's masterpiece.

    Syd Barrett: The Madcap Laughs

    I first heard this on vinyl more than thirty years ago and the impression it has always left me with is of a man in disintegration, desperately trying to hang on to - something, but ultimately being unable to. It is a tremendous album and at the same time so very, very sad to hear it all again. I have never heard anything quite like this before, or since. If you have followed Pink Floyd from inception to finale, then you have probably heard this album too. I wouldn't be without it, however unsettling it may be to listen to.
