what can one say? as a raggedy old ex-raver, this album takes me right back to my alleged mis-spent youth, reminding me of those zoned out moments in the early hours of a sunday morning after a weekend of silliness at shelleys in stoke. from the first track, movin' on up, there is a feeling of warm, pregnant possibilities that reverberate throughout the entire album. listening to slip inside this house while slipping into the sofa, letting the rushes come as you don't fight it, just feel it, all the time flying higher than the sun, what a beautiful way to finish off the weekend. and who could argue with that? (possibly the blue meanies, but who cares what they say, eh?) as for the rest of the album, i'll leave off the descriptions and allow you to discover the joyous and timeless message carried in the music that leaves your brain feeling like a little bit of heaven was left there, just for you to rediscover. as the man says, this is a beautiful day, this is a new day, we are together, we are unified, cos together we got power. and when you tune into that power, the world can change, and we can all be free. Not much of a review, i know, but i haven't half enjoyed revisiting the dim and distant lands of my ravy, gravy youth. Anyone know where i can get some chips and peas?Read full review
To tell you which is the safest drug, which is so good to me right now, it has to be Primal Scream’s album Screamadelica, with the opening verse, I was blind now I can see You made a believer out of me Then slip inside this house, which I just found was a tribute to the 13th Elevators song of the same name, amazed, then the bit I like the most, the Indian chants of Higher than the Sun, I sing to it.”
Love this album! Bought it because I have a couple of tracks from the album and have wanted it on CD for ages, used to have a copied cassette back in the day and just remembered it to be a fantastic album. I wasn't disappointed when I got it. It takes me right back to the early '90's, with it's mix of very soulful "baggy-esque" indie, to more acid house inspired tracks. It was one of the defining albums of the '90's and I highly recommend it!
This is the fourth copy of this I've owned as people who lend it never seem to want to give it back. That say's it all as far as good tunes go, unless I just attract record thieves!!!! Dance era Primal Scream with Weatherall producing most Jah Wobble also makes his mark and O'Dowd. Try it. Classics don't date, this hasn't dated.
Simply one of the best albums of the 90s. Chilled out would be a massive understatement. Love it. If you don't own a copy? Why not?
Buy it if you don't want to keep still! This is a good one anyone with St Vitus Dance, or who just likes dancing!
Well, its suppose to be a kick ass 90's album, but to my disappointment, its crappy! I mean there are a couple of really good tracks, but I can't see what all the hype was. Its not a bad album, its just not that high on my playlists......
i had lost my origional copy of this cd and found it to be that good that i had to buy myself a new copy. my cd collection was lost without it.
This classic album brings back lots of memories. Great to listen to late at night as you are transported through catchy dance tunes to spacey psychedelia.
About as good as it gets !!!! Album of the decade? (1990's) if you have'nt heard it yet, borrow it, steal, it, buy it, but listen to it!
