I first came to know of Guy Clark through his good friend --the late, great Townes Van Zandt -- and John Prine. He fits very comfortably in the contemporary (non-redneck) country music of the above. His impressive lyrics and music are worth the effort in exploring. Guy Clark is now one of my firm favourites and I suppose that a compilation is not the worste place to begin - that bloody iTunes or amazon 30 second clips is. ;) If you like Townes and John Prine then you can't go wrong really. Great stuff by a great artist who unfortunately only seems to record all too sparodically.
I first encountered Guy Clark on the cable tv channel CMT Europe (now defunct unfortunately). With 20 tracks this album is excellent value and is a good way to get to know Guy's music if you have not heard much of it.
