Jason Statham is the next Bruce Willis. Or at least that's what he thinks. Trading off the same sub-Willis impersonation that he used to equally dubious effect in "The One", Statham's latest attempt to recast himself as a hard-man action hero is more "Hudson Hawk" than "Die Hard". "The Transporter" was written and produced by French cinema's high-concept grandmaster, Luc Besson. It follows ex-Special Forces Marine Frank Martin (Statham), who works on the fringes of Monaco's criminal underworld as a no-questions-asked "transporter" of everything and anything. When he finds that his latest package is a beautiful Chinese woman (Qi Shu), Frank breaks all his own rules about remaining neutral. He gets involved in a complicated plot involving people-smuggling, gunfights, and some martial arts action. First off, Statham does a surprisingly good job. OK, so he's no Bruce Willis, but this unlikely action hero (check out the lifts on his shoes!) has obviously been taking a few tips from "The One" co-star Jet Li. Fight choreographer turned director Cory Yuen stages the chop socky scenes well, including an inventive oil slick punch-up. But what lets the film down is the combination of some truly atrocious storytelling, dialogue, acting, and dodgy CG special effects. Whether or not you're able to convince yourself that the inventive action sequences are good enough to endure the rest of the film's stupidity will depend on how desperate you are for a martial arts fix. With a series of unconvincing stuntmen, overblown action, and a pumped-up soundtrack that seems designed to kill off whatever critical grey matter you didn't leave at the door, this is junk food cinema at its greasiest.Read full review
This first in the trilogy (so far),brings the fantasy of the "Bad Boy" with rules & standards to life. Jason Statem is the ultimate anti- hero in this all action, boy racer, stunt lovers movie. The fact that there is a storyline of sorts is not the point. It is the stunt driving and fight action scenes that make the film along with a certain wry humour at Mr Statems predicament and his need to try and keep some form of order in his day to day dealings by imposing rules & conditions both on himself and those dodgy characters who employ him. A good movie for a dull evening that leaves you wanting to see " Transporter 2"
Fast paced, full on action film with terrific fight sequences and car chases. Jason Statham is great as the cool and charismatic Frank, the transporter, no questions asked. He breaks his own rule of not looking at what is in the boot and when he sees what is in there, his conscience intervenes with dangerous consequences for himself. The action is non stop and keeps you on the edge of your seat and the martial arts fighting is slick and inventive. Put your seat belt on and enjoy the ride!
Jason Statham is well known in the all action hard man movie roles, and in The Transporter, he really excels in that role. He plays an "anything can be delivered for a price!" underworld delivery man, hence - The Transporter! :) Straight from the start the film races into the all out, car screeching, gun toting, explosive action! The car chases amongst other stunts are superb, and the best thing about The Transporter that usually lets films like this down is that the story line is believable and fits perfectly all the way through the film. No outlandish stupid twist or over acted stunt scenes. So if you like action films, even if your not a fan of the Hollywood car chase, believe me, you will be glued to this. I won't let the cat out of the bag or anything out of the car boot (???), or it might just spoil the suspense of the storyline. Excellent, Must have film!! :)Read full review
I loved this fast paced, all action packed film. There is never a dull moment throughout the film, even when there are no fighting or speed car racing, there is always suspense, as to what is coming next. I decided to buy this film because it has a balance; of action, change of scenery, a dash of romance, including very little dialogue from each actor. As a female in a minority when it comes to enjoying action films, Jason Stratham was definitely cast in a role that suited him. He appeals to many women who would/do find him attractive and many men would find his physic and looks easier to attain, without too much effort.
The Transporter was Jason Stathams first film after his move to Hollywood, and he hit the big time. He is a master of martial arts in true life, so is perfect as the tough guy. The story is a good all action chase film.
Fantastic action movie, Jase is ace as the Transporter yet again, had only seen the 2nd one! but was great to watch this one first! now I can watch one after the other! ;o) there's no-one else for the role apart from Jason Statham, he's cool he's calm and he's collected Mr. CCC @ your service! what more can you ask for, he's our very own 007/Bond! ace film and fantastic to watch, how does he do it?! excellent film, great entertainment, action packed throughout, remember not to break those rules! these ones should NOT be broken! highly recommend this film, give it a try, especially if you like action etc as it is right to the end! top notch! give it a whirl.
