The end
This film when first shown horrified the viewers. We were still in the cold war and any moment we could face a nuclear attack. Things were dangerous. Then this was broadcast and the tone was brought down from an apocalypse Hollywood blockbuster to something where the small people are the most important. They being just like you and I. I am sure that this film made the USA and the USSR cool the cold war and I feel it led to the Berlin Wall being removed. It will not shock today's audience nor will it satisfy the CGI hard core, however this film itself is the star maybe the cold war ended when everyone who saw it spoke of it at length. not bad at all really.
i remember this film years ago i was very young at the time and at the time i thought it was a good film which it is a film about what could happen after a nucular war. there was a lot of stuff like this during the 80's. so i thought i would buy it on dvd thinking it was a good film at the time. but it did not seem as good when i watched it recently. but never the less still worth a watch.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

The title is perfect.
Had only seen clips of this in the past. I grew up during the Cold War. We lived with the threat of Armageddon constantly during the 60’s, 70’s, and to a lesser extent the 80’s. In my opinion this film is closer to the truth than any other that I have seen, even though at the end the narrator says that the real war would be much worse. I served in the RN from 1964 until I was medically discharged in 1982 so I know this film gives us an idea of what the aftermath would be like.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
