Alice does Nu-metal!!!!!! And boy does he do it well!!!! Alice seems to have tried just about every style of rock over the years, and it never ceases to amaze me just how good he can be. This style is no exception. He actually manages to pull it off better in places than some of the young bands that try to steal his crown periodically!!! No track is duff here and it is great to get a quality rock album out of one of rock's elder statesmen, rather than some of the mediocre ones that some produce!!!! Good old Alice, keep it up son!!!!
Jumping various rock bandwagons since his mid seventies prime, Alice now descends on nu-metal and does a very good job of it. "Take it like a woman" revisits "Only women bleed" for a more savage generation, while "Roll the bones" and the title track revel in Marilyn Manson style perverted grimness. OK so he's hardly a spring chicken or reinventing the wheel here, but he does this CSI serial killer wallowing better than most of the kids who have followed in his wake. More power to his born again old bones!
Alice's heaviest album since Raise your fist and yell! A welcome return, Alice invented the whole shock rock scene and here he welcomes us to a new nightmare! Picking up bones cold machines and wicked young men seem to be the order of the day! In a world of carbon clones who claim to be more extreme, Alice proves again he is the master!!
