This album of covers was released whilst new material 'Our secrets are the same' was shelved for legal reasons. Cover versions of the likes of Bowie's 'The man who sold the World',The Doors 'Hello i love you' and even Echo and the Bunnymen's 'Bring on the dancing horses' dont do justice to the original versions and this offering sums up Simple Minds at the time, devoid of ideas. During the mid eighties such releases as New Gold Dream,Sparkle in the Rain and Once Upon a Time had Simple Minds standing shoulder to shoulder with U2,but whilst U2 often reinvented themselves and consistantly offered new, fresh material,Jim Kerr and the boys stood still until eventualy they lost their way and albums like this will do nothing to improve things.
Excellent all around.
