1974 - Robert Calvert (RIP) has left them to go Lockheed-ing and the band digs deep and creates a masterpiece. No more Dik Mik (also RIP), but new boy Simon House helps keep the psychedelics in place while Brock and Turner - never a perfect pairing personality-wise - make their mark on every track. Lemmy (RIP) is still in the mix, singing a song he would later cover with Motorhead. Not just an album but a piece of Hawkwind History. The only downside with the CD version is the loss of that lovely LP-sized sleeve and artwork. Buy it, if only because you'll not like it at first but familiarity breeds deep respect, as with all great albums.

It's "Hall of the Mountain Grill" by Hawkwind. It doesn't get much better than this. Bought as a gift for a long haired bearded guy I know who's never heard Hawkwind. Can't quite figure that one out myself. Funnily when you say "Hawkwind" to folk they immediately think hippy dippy sh*t.. far from it.
