ReviewsRanked # 7 in NME's list of the 'Greatest Albums Of The '70s' - "...A gloriously manufactured, futuristic rock opera which heads toward its inevitably tragic finale on Mick Ronson's mighty power chords...", 4 stars out of 5 -- "ZIGGY...remains a pivotal work....With Bowie fired up by a hunger for recognition and sidekick Mick Ronson at his most inspired.", "...Besides the dazzling conceptual framework - rock'n'roll with such a sense of otherness that it was actually extra-terrestrial - there are somne great songs too...", 5 Stars (out of 5) - "...Bowie's one true complete masterwork....arguably changed more people's lives in one fell swoop than any before or since.", "...David Bowie has pulled off his complex task with consummate style, with some great rock & roll...with all the wit and passion required to give it sufficient dimension and with a deep sense of humanity that regularly emerges from behind the star facade...I'd give it at least a 99.", 5 stars out of 5 - "...sealed Bowie's fate, book-ended by 2 of his finest slowburners, 'Five Years' and 'Rock'n'Roll Suicide'...", Ranked #40 in Nme's List of the 'greatest Albums of All Time.', Ranked #25 in Q's "100 Greatest British Albums" - "...Turned the rock world upside down, a sci-fi psychodrama garnished with the scattergun glam guitar of Bowie's silver-haired foil and sidekick, Mick Ronson....Made in Britain, but concieved in a galaxy far away.", 5 Out of 5-"...Redefined Not Just How Pop Could Sound, but How It Could Think...", 5 Stars Out of 5 -- "Each Immortally Sculpted Tune Carries a Mood of Its Own.", Included in Q Magazine's "100 Greatest Albums Ever"

  • Is this the best edition of the best album ever???

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars is my all time favourite album. The majority of the tracks on the bonus CD, consisting of recordings from the Ziggy sessions from November '71, which didn't make it onto the original album, maintain the high standard. These six tracks are Velvet Goldmine, Holy Holy, Amsterdam, The Supermen, Round and Round and Sweet Head (Take 4) and add a third side and whole new dimension to this most classic of albums. Also included are John, I'm Only Dancing, which was the follow-up single to Starman, and a 2002 mix of Moonage Daydream, probably the defining song of this epoch of Bowie's creative output, which has to be heard to be believed. Regrettably, the other bonus tracks, the Arnold Corns (primitive) versions of Moonage Daydream and Hang on to Yourself, as well as demos of Lady Stardust and Ziggy Stardust, are not of such high quality though of interest no doubt to those who don't already have them. As well as two CDs, the package consists of a book with some rarely seen photos and some great background info. An absolute must for all serious Bowie fans.

I'm totally happy with this great package and everything about it is really good! The only wish is that it should've been bigger and maybe in a record size! 😃 /Jesper
