I guess I'm the oddball. This wee Genesis is a fun product!
Fun little system at a terrific deal! I have the handheld, with the SD cart slot, and that's an amazing handheld, this can't compare - I wish it had that slot, and a few extra games, like Chakan, the handheld has, but this is still a fun, inexpensive deal - Mine was like $27, looked like new to me! SO, back in the early 90's, I was an SNES/NES guy, and never really knew anyone with a Sega. I've since played a ton of games, via emulation, like that handheld, and this, so I have no idea if the sound is "off" or whatever, I just know it's really fun. Yeah, there are like 40 stupid games on here, besides Genesis hits, but who cares. I'm in love with Sonic 2 right now, that music on the chemical plant level is awesome, and sounds good to me! This is a perfect thing for me, I just bought a cart which works great- I have a ton of vintage games and systems, and if you take this thing for what it is, it's just as fun as the real deal. Don't let these pessimistic, 24 year old losers on youtube bring you down. Just pick one up, and have fun. Talking with your girl on the phone, with some Mortal Kombat 3 on in the background, brings back a ton of 90's memories, and for that, this wee Genesis rules. Yeah, I know there's a new version, and whatever. I figure I'll eventually get around and find a beautiful REAL Sega Genesis with box and such, anyways, but for the price of like.. a couple of carts, you could be playing a few dozen. RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE. BTW - controllers work great. Lots of old time fun!!!
Lots of fun old games. I think the resolution would be better on a smaller TV. I have it on a 50". I don't remember them being blurry. The controllers work great and easy hookup. The games are faster than before. Not all. Just some. I thought it was me but had someone else try it and they thought the same. Cannot adjust speed for beginners. all games are at full speed. If you liked the Genesis you have to get this console !!!!
I really cant seem to figure out the negative reviews. I had a Sega Genesis and pretty much most of these games on the console. And i tell you its awesome and very fun just like the original console. The games play perfect the graphics are the same the sound is good the controllers work very well. Most people have to remember when the genesis came out we had low resolution analog tv's and now everyone wants these super graphics complex games on a flat screen.To me they are very good games like the originals.Sonic games Altered Beast and Mortal Kombat also Eternal Champions wow just wow. I had hundreds of dollars in my original sega back in the 80's-early 90's and now i have them all for 25$ bucks really no contest. Yes it is light the boards we use now are nothing like the old school mother boards like wise the controllers also but it is well made everything fits perfect and the controllers are very responsive. The buttons on the console are well made and work great.Like i said if you loved the original Sega Genesis you will love it and if you have kids show them what real games were like and i am sure they will like them also. It works with all my flat screens just fine mine are 1080p and it looks great no glitches at all. Works Well Right Out of the Box!
My old Sega Genesis cartridge games and the built-in games for this system work well! All of the functions work as intended right out of the box. My only minor complaint is the sound and video quality of the games not matching how I remember.
