Beautifully recorded. The work is moving and satisfying. Denis van Outen has a lovely, well suited voice.

Excellent updated version of Tell Me on a Sunday. Change of lyrics from the original version, would definitely recommend listening to it.

Recently saw the show with Claire Sweeney. She hasn't brought out a CD so I brought the Denise Van Outen version. Brilliant. Listening to the album is like being at the theatre again.
Some people love Denise Van Outen, other find her loud and lary. Me? I don't mind her, so was happy to give the CD a go. She's got a reasonable voice, and there's a bit of acting, but sorry, Denise, it's not a patch on the Marti Webb original. Maybe it's because those lyrics have been in my head for thirty years, and I'm reluctant to hear changes, or maybe her voice suits me a little better. The Marti Webb may be a bit dated by now, but so am I. If you don't know the original, by all means give this a go. The songs are witty and well done, but if you're buying it because you liked the original, then stick with the Marti Webb, otherwise you'll be disappointed.
I had the original LP with Marti Webb. I purchased the new version with Denise Van Outen and I am delighted with the new modern lyrics. Denise is an Essex girl and comes over less sophisticated then Marti Webb and I think that this interprtation is correct.
