Reviews"A deliriously opulent, rococo work....Tragically ignored during its time, the album takes its rightful place it alongside Love’s FOREVER CHANGES, Judee Sill’s HEART FOOD, or Van Morrison’s ASTRAL WEEKS...", 4 stars out of 5 -- "NO OTHER was an LP you could put on and lose yourself in -- a collection wholly unconcerned with radio airplay, stadium sing-alongs or anything that would have pleased Clark’s label boss at the time...", 5 stars out of 5 - "...Clark's lyricism was lashed to his finest vocal performance....It's the best album any Byrd ever made...", 5 out of 5 stars - "...It's Clark's writing and the rough beauty of his voice that make NO OTHER so compelling...", 4 stars out of 5 - "...A long-lost gem, this 1974 affair mixes loping rhythms with gospel and funk tinges, innovative studio effects and tastefully extended playing...", "...A Missing Link between '60s Folkie Fred Neil and Beck's Sea Change..."-Rating: A-
Additional InformationRejected by many as an exercise in bloated studio excess, the songwriter's ill-fated 1974 album is now rightfully regarded as a classic.

  • Outstanding album I'd never heard of

Gene Clark - who he? Until my son paid a visit recently I had never heard of him. Turns out he was a founding member of The Byrds and we've all heard of *them*, right? No Other is Clark's most famous solo endeavour after The Byrds split and it has stood the test of time from 1974 remarkably well. Standout tracks are Strength of Strings, Some Misunderstanding and Lady of the North, but really the whole thing is gold and if you buy the remastered version it's loaded with extra tracks, which are alternative versions of the originals. You will be moved to tears by the line 'And the seasons roll under the sun' on Lady of the North and feel sad that Clark died at just 46yo, with much of his musical ambition and potential thwarted or unrealised. No Other is a collectable masterpiece. Invest.

  • A Classic

Terribly overlooked despite being a classic of its time. Album imho shows GC as the most influential of the Byrd's.
