  • Great little amp

Down sized from a Mesa Boogie to the Fender and while very different it is an excellent amplifier. Greater portability, plenty loud enough but volume control is greatly improved by swapping the first stage preamp valve to an ECC81. Normal signs of pcb scorching, but repositioning of the effected components to give greater airflow has sorted that design issue. From a technical point of view, the Fender is easy to work on, well laid out internal give easy access to all the main parts. One tip, when removing the back cover, slacken the side chassis screws to stop the sides of the cabinet gripping the back panel. If you force it too much the panel will break.

  • Great Amp, Poor Value.

I keep trying different guitar combos or head plus cabinet, but always come back to one of these. In A/B tests, this always sounds better than the amp I am comparing it with, deeper sound and enough oomph for live use on stage. It takes pedals well (I use a Boss multiple effects unit) and the footswitchable channel/more drive is great for live work. I don't use the effect loop for that purpose, I just use the SEND into a DI box for sound reinforcement through the PA. However, all Fender valve amps are poor value for money at new prices. Find yourself a decent secondhand one and save yourself hundreds.

  • Hot Rod Deville USA

This is an original USA 1996 model and it sounds amazing… Its the first Tube Amp that i have owned. I had been lookin’ at versatility and this has some grunt, from lovely cleans through to some dirty blues. The pots were cleaned up with some switch spray and the valves checked. It is very heavy to lug around though… enjoy
