An enjoyable mix of songs and comedy
I bought this CD basically to listen once more to childhood memories of "The gas man commeth" and "the hippopotamus song" (mud, mud, glorious mud). These are on there, just as I remember them, along with some others I now really like. The title track "Transports of delight" I now remember but wouldn't have got from the title. What I didn't realise was that it is a live recording of one of their shows with comedy and introductions to the songs on each track. I had no idea of their style of comedy but after a couple of listens I have quite taken to it, but it is of an era. For example, I have to assume the Profumo affair was still firmly in public memory hence references to Lord Denning and in a piece were Flanders is quoting "cod" Latin he translate no smoke without fire by usng pro fumo. In conclusion, probably not a CD that you could listen to over and over or from which it would be easy to extract just the songs you want, but at the price I have had quite a few laughs and the more I listen the more I pick up.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Childhood Memories revisited
The clever & witty verses of some of the older songs I do remember from my childhood as Flanders & Swann were one of my mothers favourites.
