Useful to detect IF you are in ketosis, not accurate for Changes in Level of Ketosis
Okay, the meter has some good things and some flaws.
Pros:
- It appears to work, and tell you if you are in ketosis
- It gives you a #, I will refer to the top # (1.3 - 1.9)
- It is easy to use
Cons:
- The alarm beep telling you that you are violating breathalyzer rules!
- The # is almost meaningless. Compared to my BLOOD Level of Ketones, it's almost random.
(I have a blood ketone tester. I get readings 3.0 - 6.5, and they are stable. this unit gives me
1.9 for my reading for every one of those values. Now, it used to give me lower #s in the
beginning).
- Taking 2 readings in a row is inaccurate. It seems the sensor does not clean itself...
(I found reversing, and SUCKING air in, would get down to 0.5 and then 0.0)
- Basically it is useful to tell IF you are in ketosis, and IF there are ketones in your breath.
I question the validity of ANY Number for a reading this thing gives.
I wish they would publish a formula to get you to the mmol/L level (I've tried using Avogadro's number, and the weight of either Ketones or Alcohol (my assumption), and neither give me an appropriate response. Besides, I get the same 1.9 for every possible blood reading.
