Tricky fit into Scanspeak D-2008, must be modified before fitting.
On first examination comparing the replacement to the original Scanspeak coil there are a number of obvious differences. The replacement coil has bare braid connecting wires. Insulated wires as per the Scanspeak would make installation so much easier. The dome surround is also a smaller diameter than the Scanspeak. There is approx' 25% less windings on the replacement. Having said that the construction and soldering on the replacement is nicely done but it isn't a direct drop in replacement without first modifying the connecting leads. So installation was made trickier by the need to solder replacement insulated connecting leads to the coil or the wires will short out on the metal casing. Because the diaphragm surround is narrower it is trickier to position and affix the coil without contaminating the coil with adhesive. I'm still running in the new coil but first tests show the replacement to be some what brighter and less refined than the Scanspeak original. For the time and effort involved and the end result achieved would I buy the replacement again, probably not, only if the Scanspeak D-2008 became unavailable.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
