Funk, Soul and Honesty
Millie Jackson a soul/funk.R 'n' B singer of the Old Skool, who could blast today's so called Soul/R 'n' B artists into oblivion. She appeared on shows like Soul Train and made her way in the music industry, earning her dues, until she found her own voice and her own groove. She's brutally honest in her songs and no saccharine. Her voice is husky, soulful which she intersperses with her own commentary. Her songs are about love, failed love, infidelity and living with the choices made. She even turns Bobby Goldsboro's "Summer the First Time" into a gentle, playful soulful song.
