'Daniel O'Donnell???' - usually followed by a smirk, because nobody likes Daniel O'Donnell - or so they would have you believe. Just about everyone I know would respond like that - yet someone must like him when you consider how many recordings he has made and sold! For some strange reason it is almost fashionable for some people to knock Daniel O'Donnell - and I wonder why? He is a good singer, his songs are good 'old fashioned' songs - the type my old Granny would have enjoyed singing along to. Daniel himself presents as a good living man with values, a strong, loving family and he is open and honest about his religious faith. Perhaps now I may have answered my own question. Maybe it's not realy Daniel that people don't like but what he represents. Funnily enough this description could almost be about Cliff Richard - one of our most successful entertainers of all time. Neither of them fit in with what would seem to be expected of todays 'stars'.There's nothing juicy that the media can have a field day with - sex, drugs, money, relationships, background etc. Just look at what was done recently to Susan Boyle - did we really need to know such personal and intimate facts? Whatever the reasons other people have I like this CD - and it's not the first I've bought of Daniel O'Donnell. He is a good singer and I just love these songs. I can sit back, relax and 'feel good'. As for all those 'smirkers' I know who knock him - it's surprising how many of them actually have one or two of Daniel's CD's hidden away! If you like this type of music then go for it! With this CD - as with all of his CD's - you won't be disappointed.Read full review
