If they work, they work well
I have been buying these for years. I use them to archive old radio shows so I am not putting a great deal of demand on them. The newer models like this one are a crap shot. Some work and some do not. As they get newer the dependability suffers like everything else. When they were made in Japan years ago they were almost bulletproof. But as time moved on the quality control suffered. These newer models have some nice features and are more user friendly, but one out of ten do not work properly and are DOA.The most annoying thing about them is every so often you have to take a pin and find the tinny reset hole on the back and reset them. Some times this whole process takes five minutes. The sound quality is relative on the earphones---nothing more. I do not listen to MP3 music so I cannot comment on the music quality but for my old radio shows the quality with the right ear phones is acceptable---but not dynamic. I never use them without being plugged in so I can's comment on the battery life. I believe they are way over priced for the quality of the unit so I usually buy them used for reberb since those seem to have been tested and used for awhile and they tend to work better. If you get them at the right price and know their limitations, you will be happy with one. But trash the earphones that come with them immediately and buy higher quality earbuds and the sound will be acceptable.
