This 50amp plasma cutter is a great machine
I ordered up this 50amp plasma cutter & it was soon delivered,
I opened up the box a found it to be well packed, on removing the contents of the box, there was a good supply of consumables, cutting torch, earth clamp, air regulator & the fittings to connect it up including the worm drive clips, instruction & spare parts book,
I started building up the air regulator, firstly fitting the mounting bracket below the large nut on top of regulator & tightened it up, then added some PTFE tape to one of the brass male fittings & screwed the male fitting into the out side of the regulator, then added PTFE tape to my male quick release fitting & screwed that in to the inlet side of regular & tightened up, then added PTFE tape to pressure gauge & fitted to regulator then fitted complete unit to plasma machine on left hand side (when viewed from front) on the 2 screws provided, this is where I would have a criticism, you have to supply approximately 300mm (12") of air line hose to connect from the air outlet on regulator to the air inlet on the back of machine, (reference picture 1)
I then connected up the air line, plugged into 16amp supply & turned on the plasma cutter, set air pressure on regulator to 50 psi & set the amps to 15, put on my auto darkening welding shield & started to cut a piece of 3mm m/steel plate, found I needed more air turned up to 65psi & away I went, not the cleanest of cuts, but not bad for first time,
I decided to up the plate thickness to 8mm & set amps at 30 & up the air pressure to 70psi, away I went through the 8mm plate, nice clean cut & quite smooth finish very pleasing, tried cutting 12mm plate at 35amp same pressure, even better than the 8mm plate, very impressed so far, I then tried 16mm plate at 40amps & same pressure 70psi with good results, almost cut completely through, I think with a little fine tuning it would definitely cut 16mm mild steel plate,
This is a impressive machine, & I would definitely recommend this 50amp plasma cutter to any one looking one, it is very good value for money & a very well made & finished machine,
