Some good extras but a very poor writing kit
Good points. It is a good intro book which covers the fonts and techniques. But the larger nib just doesn't allow the ink to flow and so you are really left with two fountain pens.
I've attached an scanned image (medium quality), which shows how I manged when writing the alphabet as I would freely.
(1) This is the thickest nib. Starts well, but the ink does not flow, and tends to just not produce a letter!
(2) This is the medium nib. Not bad, though sometimes a bit rough on the paper.
(3) Is my sheaffer pen. Not a posh one, cost around £8
If you want to take up calligraphy as a hobby (which I'm looking to do),then I'm sorry to say this is not the kit to buy. Maybe I got a bad kit, but if not, then I would save your cash. I feel very disappointing with parting with mine.,
