Does what it's supposed to without drama. I've had a very similar (but 'previous generation') unit for many years and it has proven robust and reliable; but nothing lasts forever and when it started to misbehave I needed a replacement and this is it. I'm expecting many years of use but at the low price paid am quite happy to consider it expendable. Downsides? Difficult to find any of real consequence. The balance needs to be on a firm level surface for accuracy and the display is a little small so the units in which the weight of the item being measured may be mis-read. It would also be helpful if the 'shorthand' notation for the various units of measure could be explained (in the included instruction booklet and/or as printed in the balances lid. Likewise explanation of the mathematical relationship between the different units of weight would be helpful. Other than that a good product at a good price that does what it's supposed to. I use different herbs in different quantity like 100mg to 600mg and this tool is very helpful for measuring it. The measurements are mostly accurate and consistent while testing with capsules of same size fillers. Sometimes the measurements are off by just 0.01 grams.
