A really important contribution to the history of WW1.
A truly extraordinary production. The sense of 'being there' feels so real, more than just 'another war film'. It is impossible not to feel the true tragedy of war and the senseless loss of life, all portayed in a 'down-to-earth' style which delivers throughtout the film.
