Well worth it
A fantastic upgrade to Sync 3. Make sure your software is up to date (easy) and replace this module and it is like a brand new vehicle from a technology perspective. Sync 3 had been dropping apps and I was going crazy trying to figure it out (lost Waze). Works exactly as promised
I ordered this as a replacement usb hub for my 2016 F150 in order to get Apple Carplay as I had read that this hub would be required. The part worked exactly as promised and once I downloaded the new software update from Ford which is also required it gave me full Apple Carplay functionality in my dash. USB Module Worked Great in Ford Flex
After my local Ford dealer had me sit for 3 hours and then told me I had to come back so they could open up the dash, I knew something wasn't right with them. With no tools I pulled out the current USB module, found that the USB cord behind it had power, and went inside to order this part. Finally Apple Carplay
We have a 2016 Ford Flex that the Ford Dealership told us that our Sync couldn't be updated to allow Apple Carplay. Glad they were wrong. Updated the software myself and then had to buy this beauty to allow proper connection. Now my wife is so happy to have a fully functioning Sync 3 with Apple Carplay. Perfect OEM Upgrade for Sync 3 Ford USB for Apple CarPlay
Certain Ford models with Sync 3 are not sold with Apple CarPlay. Ford has vaguely promised to make the upgrade possible. As of June of 2017, they have not made good on their promise. No updates have been forthcoming for owners of 2016 vehicles in California although the availability was to be made as of Dec 2016. Those who want an upgrade must take the initiative to purchase and have installed the USB hub and the software flashed by a dealer. There is a cost involved, standard labor rates apply. This hardware plus software upgrade is necessary for owners of Sync 3 equipped Ford vehicles to use Apple CarPlay. To do so one must of course own an Apple iPhone. The installation, software and field test by a technician can be done in about an hour, and includes removal of the existing USB hub, installing of the new hub, and downloading to the car the correct Sync 3 version.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
