There must be better collections of Ewan Maccoll's, I was expecting the man himself to be singing the songs, but a fair chunk of them are sung by Peggy Seeger.
The songs themselves include a few classics, but some of them are just poor songs. "Just the tax for me" is a 46 second rant against the Poll Tax, for example, unmelodic and uninteresting. Some others are protest songs too, with one thing in common: they are not very good.
Fortunately the CD is very cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for. In this case, a bundle of songs that - with a very few memorable exceptions - have you reaching for the "stop" button.
