This is the 2nd album from the Afro-Cuban All Stars led by Juan de Marcos Gonzalez one of the instigators of the Buena Vista Social Club recordings and DVD and features many of the artists from it. This band features some 50 or so musicians from many generations and this album moves a little away from what made the previous one so strong. This time it embraces a more modern dance orientated sound and in fact there is a wide range of styles on show here which both leaves one excited and a little lost but for me the album was worth buying for the "Tumba palo cocuye" and "Al vaiven de mi carreta" tracks alone and I really enjoyed "Wariansa" which is very African and most of the other tracks grow on me the more I listen to them so perhaps I will be writing a further update review a little later declaring it an absolute masterpiece. Well worth picking up as a bargain on e-bay I would say.Read full review
