  • The Last of the Decent Early BeeGees Album Run

Despite their reputation as purveyors of cheesy disco/pop, the Bee Gees produced a sequence of decent - if dated - albums between 1967 and 1972. The 1967 album (1st) is an underrated psychedelic-tinged gem and whilst the next releases are more conventional, each has some fine tracks. Trafalgar (1972) is the last BeeGees release in the classic early years and 10 of the 12 tracks are pretty good, IMO. There's less of Robin Gibb's eccentric but gorgeous warbling on this album than I'd like, but tracks like Israel, Greatest Man in the World, Trafalgar and Walking Back to Waterloo are well crafted. The album also has well known track How Can you Mend a Broken Heart? among the list. BeeGees' early albums tend to be pricey, but if you wait one might be advertised at a reasonable price.
