This bundle includes Sony Online Entertainment's original "MMOFPS" (massively multiplayer first-person shooter) PlanetSide, as well as its official retail expansion pack, Core Combat.<br><br>PlanetSide is designed to combine the best aspects of first-person shooter action and massively multiplayer persistent-world role-playing. Players enter a large and seamless virtual world of 13 separate continents, each up to 64 square kilometers in area. Instead of physical attributes or wealth, characters are defined by the certifications they choose. Different certifications allow the use of different types of weapons, vehicles, and gadgetry, most of which are easily available at any friendly supply base. Experience earns the chance to choose additional certifications.<br><br>Core Combat adds three weapons and three vehicles to PlanetSide that become accessible to each empire once it upgrades its facilities with the appropriate modules. Weapons include the heavy assault rifle Maelstrom, the special assault rifle Radiator, and the long-range pistol Spiker. Additional vehicles include the hover tank Flail, the rapid-assault ATV-class Switchblade, and a deployable transporter called Router. Aside from the vehicle and equipment modules, players can also capture "pain," "health," "shield," and "speed" modules.
