SynopsisCastenada looks back on the time he spent as an apprentice to the descendants of the Shamans. The reader will find here a distillation of all his key thoughts and ideas.
Dehaluyi’s 2007 hysterical review is from a man who has no clue what Castaneda’s awesome books are about. It has nothing to do with him or any tribe. The fact that don Juan was a Yaqui is incidental. The books are about the knowledge that has evolved from its Toltec origins. If Dehaluyi were to actually read them and pay attention he would not be inclined to react to anything in such a hysterical and inappropriate manner.
The book is simply a summary of the teachings including events that Castaneda wanted to emphasize. They are about the possibilities for all mankind. Who could fault the aspiration to become an impeccable human being and the benefits that brings to a life?
Castaneda’s books are fascinating and compelling reading, fodder for any autodidact. It is a shame that dehaluyi’s inappropriate review has reduced a deserved five star average in any degree. I seriously doubt that he ever read any of Castaneda’s books, or if he did he most certainly did not understand any of it at all.
After seventy years of searching for knowledge of mankind’s condition and existence I feel that Castaneda’s books offer more than any other source. They are a treasure trove of appropriate knowledge of mankind’s possibilities of advancement.
They transcend all of mankind’s varieties of color, creed, and traditions and address the heart of the matter. Anyone who reads them and pays attention can only benefit.
