Answered prayers!
If you're not aware, the film is loosely based on / takes its inspiration from the John Irving novel "A prayer for Own Meany". It's my favourite novel and I was both curious and a little concerned as to how it would translate to film. I needn't have been concerned as it's a lovely little film in its own right. You don't need to have read the book to appreciate it and the fact that it doesn't follow the book too closely shouldn't bother fans of the book either. A true heart felt movie
This is one very good great brilliant uplifting film about being different and being accepted for who and what you are. It's a film that's a mixture of very funny and sometimes sad moments in childhood. It has a very good adult and child star cast. Simon was born with a height problem and he believes that he was put on earth to do something very special. It's about the beauty and joys of that special time in our lives. That what comes to all of us from birth . Childhood. Close love bond friendship between two very good friends . Make sure you have the hankies out for near the end as trust me you will need them. From when the bus goes into the river with the children and what Simon does to help them and then in the hospital with his best friend talking to him .
