Hugh Grant plays Will, a shallow rich bachelor without a care in the world and completely self obsessed. His latest ploy to meet women is to go to single parent meetings and pretend to be a single parent. Through this he meets Suzie who is friends with Fiona and her child Marcus. He strikes up an unlikely friendship with the boy, who quickly sees this as a temporary escape from his troubled life plus an opportunity to match make for his suicidal mother but Will is not remotely interested. Marcus is a boy with the weight of the world on his shoulders and a host of problems. Soon Will comes to genuinely care about the boy who forces his way into his life, and this unlikely friendship helps them each overcome their hang ups and problems to become more balanced happy people. Will slowly thaws to become a fully fledged member of the human race, and the transformation is endearing.Read full review
