Love Anne of Green Gables - always have, and finally treated myself to all 3 dvd's to take away on holiday. The original story and the sequel are so absorbing, they lift the spirits, transport you into a world of true frienships, loyalty, laughter - truly heartwarming and guaranteed to make you feel good. The continuing story is so so different. Megan and Jonathan are wonderful, no doubt, but the magic has gone, the heartwarming theraputic impact on the soul is simply not there for the taking. Megan is still the gorgeous character we love, but she has truly aged too and the lack of sparkle in both their eyes is missing. I suppose I expected too much, however these are my observations. It is however, an absorbing film that takes you on an emotional journey for sure, and brilliantly acted and worth watching. I will however be watching the original Anne-girl 2 part story again soon just to restore my 'feel-good' disposition that, sorry to say, only Anne as an orphan girl and a teacher can impart.Read full review
Disappointingly, this film is completely lacking in the shmaltz and comedy it had in parts 1 & 2, but I suppose it has to be true to the book. My disappointment is only that I didn't know what to expect from this sequel, since I thought it would focus on Anne and Gilbert's relationship at bit more. But then, had I read the entire trilogy beforehand, I'd have known to expect a war film. Schindler's List it isn't, but nor is it The Sound of Music. My real disappointment refers to the end of part two,( the film before this one, and, er, spoiler-alert if you haven't seen it) when Gilbert Blythe brushing hair off Anne's cheek and calling her 'Carrots' is the long-awaited crescendo to their romance. In the words of Bugs Bunny, 'That's all, folks!' Yes, that was it. (Sorry. Couldn't resist the inherent irony in the vegetable theme.) Anyway... To buy or not to buy? Well, if you don't mind a war film and you're a true fan, buy it. If you have better things to do with your time than hoping for sentimentality, don't bother. As for me, I won't be re-selling my copy on E-bay or Amazon. I'll probably watch it again someday before Blu-Ray takes over the world...Read full review
i thought that this product was in excellent condition and i was expecting something that wasnt as good so i was pleasantly suprised. I bought this as my mum has been after film for a long time and i loved the quality of it. It was a long video and i spent a few good nights watching it with my mum and we both really enjoyed the story than when we had first watched it many years ago. All in all i was very happy with the purchase
