Extraordinary
Ken Russell begins to get into his inimitable slightly demented style with this production ( contrast Elgar). Much of it is richly entertaining but, to my taste at any rate, some of it is too off the wall to convince.But it is an extraordinary and unique film.

Ken Russell does it again!
Over time I’ve come to appreciate this film more. One of a series of films Ken Russell made about famous composers, although it occasionally betrays its low-budget origins, anyone looking for an introduction to Mahler’s life and music could do a lot worse than this. Engaging and well worth watching.
