This film was made in 1970. You can tell this by the non-native Native American Indian people in it. Saying that, the film shows some of the true horrors that the Natives had to go through for America to be what it is today. The persecution is still ongoing and the government is still trying to bully and rob the Native Americans. More people should be educated about this. The main female character is funny, clever and brave and the main man is opposed to her views but as the story goes on he realises the true nature of the war. It’s a love story and a look at the political stance of the American government at the time. Shows beautiful countryside and magnificent mountains. An oldie but a goodie. Would recommend.

I had never seen it before and only knew of it's controversial reputation . Certain aspects haven't aged well but overall it's still as powerful as a punch in the nose . Definitely worth watching and infinitely superior to any of John Wayne's bilge .
