Pity poor Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger). She's the 1990s British everywoman: single, weight-obsessed, and very probably drunk on mid-price white wine. Her life goes from middling to worse when she embarks on a doomed affair with silver-tongued boss Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant). In the background lurks a literal Mr Darcy (Colin Firth), a seemingly cold lawyer who keeps crossing Bridget's path but whose precise intentions seem hard for her to divine. All the while Bridget records her lurches across life's highway in the eponymous diary, as an attempt to take control of her tragi-comic life.

  • Lovely and hilarious

Meet Bridget Jones a thirty something singleton living in London amongst all her smug married friends and her four best single friend's, successful banker, but useless with men Jude, Strident feminist journalist Shazzer, and Gay friend Tom, who had one hit song in the eighties with no current plans to release anything else thank you very much! Bridget also had her very loveable placid father Colin, exuberant and racist mother Pam, and family friend Auntie Una and Uncle Jeffrey. In this films Bridget proves why it is never a good idea to sleep with your boss especially when your boss is a cheating nightmare!! Helped by her friends and a desire to better herself Bridget gets a job at sit up Britain, working as an on-screen journalist much to hers and the nation's horror it emerges later, one of the funniest things I've ever seen! But I does bring Bridget and Mark together when she's cooking a dinner party for her friends and everything that can go wrong does go wrong, with Mark turning up and saving the meal, and then when everyone's done eating and they've just toasted Bridget's new found success Daniel Cleaver turns up three sheets to the wind, and Mark get angry and leaves then he comes back and him and Mark are brawling in the street, it's so funny you will split your sides laughing at that bit, it's forever been my favourite! Anyway, happily she ends up with Mark after running through the snow in her leopard print underpants! With the old accountant from open all hours and the crook from only fools and horses oh and a brief part in Vera shouts at her 'Crazy girl' as she's running past him, the ending is highly comical but so romantic, it's how you wish real life romance would be!
