Book was listed as "used but in excellent condition, no cover damage". The cover is damaged, it is stamped from a library on the edge of the pages. None of this was listed in the description for this book.
If you a big fan of Dorkin, Mignola, Powell and Thompson, it is certainly a fun read and probably a must have. This has seven stories in it, including one written (yes, not illustrated) story by William Hope Hodgson. This book, The Dark Horse Book of the Dead, is my favorite in the series. It is part of a larger collection that Dark Horse produced including:
- The Dark Horse Book of Monsters;
- The Dark Horse Book of Hauntings, and;
- The Dark Horse Book of Witchcraft.
The nice part is these Dark Horse books are not numbered and are each stand-alone, so if you are inclined to go with just one, it’s not like you don’t have “the set.” Very nice matte finish, solid binding and wonderful, thick, pages. It is a hefty book for it’s smaller size (9 1/4” by 6 1/4” and 94 pages). This volume contains some unique works that I have not personally seen anywhere else.
** Bottom line: If you are a big fan of the classic EC style crime and horror, you will likely not be disappointed. **
This particular volume is a great jumping off point for deciding if you want to pick up any of the other Dark Horse collections mentioned in this review, which each seem to keep these artists and writers together as an overall theme.
