If there was an Oscar for "Most Original Movie Title Ever" or "Does What It Says On The Tin", then "Die You Zombie Bastards!" would be sitting right there at the top of the pile right alongside "Lesbian Vampire Killers". It's quite obvious from the word go that this is the first film of a couple of guys straight out of film school who have used most of their mates and family as cast and crew and financed their first film on a credit card. The acting is rubbish, the effects are weak and the plot weaves all over the place as it tries to get from A to B, but despite all this (or maybe because of it) the end result is actually quite fun. I'd almost say it was like watching a Troma film, but quite honestly, Troma isn't usually this good. "DYZB" truly is one of those few movies that are so bad they're actually quite good. The green-skinned slave women are straight out of Star Trek (but I always had a thing for Susan Oliver anyway so can't complain too much - it is after all, a nice fantasy!) but overall for the genre it respresents, and taking into account this is director Caleb Emerson's first film, the writing and direction are pretty good. It took four years to make from filming in 2001 to release in 2005, during which time the films only real 'name' - sixties rockabilly music legend Hasil Adkins died resulting in the films dedication to the faded star. The movie starts off by introducing us to the unusual world of a serial killer named Red Toole (Tim Gerstmar - the best of a bunch of poor actors, which is just as well since he is the leading man). He enjoys killing people and eating them, wearing costumes made of human flesh and spending quality time at home with his wife Violet (Pippi Zornoza). When Violet is kidnapped by a mad scientist named Baron Nefarious (Geoff Mosher), Red sets out on a thoroughly bizarre journey in hopes of getting her back, hence the films tag-line - "The World's First EVER Serial Killer Superhero Rock'n'Roll Zombie Road Movie Romance". If you wanted to be sure of a certain audience though, you could use just four words to attract would-be viewers: Topless. Naked. Zombie. Chicks. If that kind of thing turns you on and you know what kind of films the "Troma" studio produce then you will absolutely LOVE this film - it's cheap, nasty, vile, disgusting, tasteless and stupid all at the same time. And most of those are meant as compliments! As far as cheap horror B-movies are concerned, I've seen a lot worse. 6/10Read full review
