He meets Lily Manning (Ward), who finds herself in a similar situation, balancing her career with raising her children Grace and Zoe. When the pair fall in love, all of their kids as well as their exes must negotiate the situation they've been placed in. disappointing
I took a chance on this because of all the glowing reviews I had read. I was sorely disappointed. A terribly dated, self-indulgent production, increased by the fact that it is shown in the old 4:3 TV format. It must a great show to overcome that. Billy Campbell is usually enjoyable but here he is what seems to be the producers' idea of what a WASP should be: overly 'nice', bumbling, ineffectual, and easily mislead. Sela Ward is basically a poor man's Diane Keaton without the charm or warmth. The worst thing are the B&W asides by each character, commenting on their lives. It is like a mini shrink-session to which we are forced to watch. My remote control's FastFwd button got a lot of use after about a dozen of these awful moments. The second season is better than the first, and has a rather nice ending, but for me it was not worth the effort, or expense.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
