The "Mega Man X Collection" on the Sony PlayStation 2 collects the first six "Mega Man X" games. Three of the games were originally on the Super Nintendo, while the other three were on the original PlayStation platform. These games are exactly as configured on the original systems. The "Mega Man X Collection" is more than just a collection of software; it also includes unlockable art and music from every game. Also, each of the games uses save states, so you no longer need to memorize a lengthy password. Each game is in the action and adventure genres. The characters X and Zero will typically team up to defeat the evil Sigma. The "Mega Man X Collection" is rated E for Everyone. This rating ensures that each title is suitable for gamers of all ages. This title has a release date of 2006 in the United States."Mega Man X" was the first game in the franchise and was originally released on a Nintendo console. You'll run, jump, and shoot through over 10 different stages. Like the NES games, you'll select a stage and fight against a Robot Master at the end. Upon winning this fight, you can use your opponent's weapon as your own. Throughout the game, you'll find hidden armor pieces. These armor pieces will increase your damage and health. You'll also gain new abilities, like the double jump. The sequels feature similar gameplay styles. However, this title features two different endings. By finding hidden paths in each level and defeating alternate bosses, you will rebuild Zero. The third title in this franchise lets you play as Zero for the first time. Zero can use his sword to slash enemies at close range. However, if Zero is defeated, you cannot use him for the rest of the adventure. Outside of the addition of Zero, the gameplay remains the same as the previous two games in the franchise."Mega Man X4" by Capcom for the PlayStation shook the franchise up in a big way. It featured many new improvements for Zero. He is now able to fight against bosses and learn moves from a defeated boss. At the beginning of the game, you choose which of the two characters to play, although you cannot swap between characters during a playthrough. Each character will traverse across the same levels but will take different paths. While X may take a high path, Zero can cut a path through a blocked lower level. In "X5," you can once again switch between both characters. Mastering each character is the only way to uncover every hidden secret in the levels. As you battle against Sigma, the story will change depending on the choices you make. The gameplay in "X6" is still largely the same; this title places emphasis on rescuing captured allies. Defeating the first three games in this compilation unlocks a hidden seventh title, "Mega Man Battle and Chase." This title is a kart racing game featuring characters from the series. Great Collection for a Great Series of Games (except X6)
Mega Man X Collection is a real nice way of experiencing Mega Man X - Mega Man X5 all in one nice little package. You even get a little treat included in this collection, besides unlocking custom art and music from the series. What's also included is an interesting kart racing game called "Mega Man: Battle & Chase", which is a surprisingly good kart game for all its worth. But with all this for a really good price on that of this, this collection is definitely worth your time if you're looking becoming a Mega Man X fan. - Note: And notice that I'd refuse to mention X6 in this review - Side Note: I was pretty impressed that I bought this collection from you guys and when it came in the mail, it was the actual full package as described: brand new and it came in its original case. I mention this about the packaging because its not easy trusting people when it comes to buying something online and versus showing an actual real life picture that you took yourself of what the item you're trying to sell looks like, you just take a picture of what its supposed to look like from the internet on Google Images or whatever.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

A superb collection for any Mega Man fan!
This collection is perfect for any Mega Man fan, especially one like me who is just getting into the Mega Man X series. It collects the first six Mega Man X games, all absolutely amazing games, and has the bonus game Mega Man Battle & Chase (think Mario Kart but Mega Man)! Not only is it a superb collection with some bonuses as well, but it's also extremely affordable! The only grip I have about it, and it's a very minor one, is that some of the sound effects are quite, making them hard to hear. A couple of the sounds are missing, such as X's 'Hadoken' shout in X1. Difficult, but Satisfying!
The Mega Man X games are incredibly well done. X4, X5, and X6 are very good games like the 16-bit X1, X2, and X3, but they added too much dialogue and text that ruins the flow of the gameplay, stopping the player to tell them very obvious things like "you can grab onto the railing by jumping at it!", the player can learn that themselves, because, you know, players are not stupid. Now, usually I would not complain about a game attempting to tell a story and do some world building, but the story and characters aren't written well... like, at all, it's kinda laughable. Which is a GREAT shame because the gameplay is very well orchestrated, the level design has great flow and real, fair challenge. A few spots could use tweaking, whether there's just a gigantic cluster of enemies that the player would rather just skip by or a platforming section that just takes too many tries to get through, the Mega Man X games are still a great achievement on the SNES and on the PlayStation 1 by Capcom.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Best way to play the X series period.
I know a lot of people like to brush this collection off because of the new legacy collections, but they shouldn’t. The games in this set have been ported to the ps2, completely removing all instances of slowdown and lag. On top of that you can get a crisp 240p output using component cables. Without an upscaler that may be an issue if you plan on playing on an HDTV, but on a crt you’ll be hard pressed to get a better image to play these games on. Excellent collection. All 6 of the greatest Mega Man X games on one disc. What more could you ask for? No need to try and find the original Super Nintendo versions of the first 3. They are very expensive if you can find them. This is a great way to relive the experience and it saves all your progress so no need to write down those passwords anymore. Hard to find old games?
Don't worry! This will complete ALMOST all of the Mega Man X- series games, of course there's no X7 & X8, but all others. They are very rare and expensive as golden curtains... Well not quite that much, but you get the point.
