The Carter Family - Devotional gospel music from 90 years ago
Early gospel music and a forerunner of blues and other types of music. It speaks of the times, around 90 years ago, and is also devotional music. It has a good vibe, and playing it in my car transports me to another era where words are more alive with meaning and people meant what they say more. Therefore it is an enrichening experience. It is also family music, so there is a closeness that is felt, and with God and Jesus at the centre, the desire behind the songs are keenly felt. Very glad I bought this and would recommend to others.

Fascinating family
These songs apparently are at the roots of country music, songs 'collected' by A.P. Carter on his travels. I love most of them; although basic, they have a hypnotic quality. Sara Carter sings on most of them, and Maybelle a few - I would like to have heard her sing more. Her whole family were musically gifted. I play their music in the car and imagine I will one day visit the Appalachian regions. Just beautiful.
