  • EARLY Doors BBC comedy Craig cash from the Royal family

The story is set in the grapes public house, excellent characters well known actors you get to know the customer's that come into the pub, plus the landlord and his family full of oddball characters and the dodgiest policemen every who are more crooked then the crooks they arrest!! Full of scams , very funny, as it is a comedy, utterly with som e very touching moments everyone has their problems and they all get sorted out at the grapes pub . This is a older series that ran for two series, shame it did nt run longer this series should of been much longer Craig cash write another series it's brilliant and easy watching .

  • Early Doors northen houmor at its best.

This little known comedy series is one of the funniest ever. Well written, down to earth, and very funny. Based around a small run-down backstreet Manchester pub. The story line runs right through the two series, twelve episodes in total.. All the actors are perfect for the parts they play. You can watch this over and over and still find it very funny. The only bad point is that they only made the two series.

  • Early Doors - Could be my local

Excellent observation on characters you could find in most local northern pubs before all day opening hours. You have to concentrate to follow story and one-liners in each episode but there is several story themes running through the entire series. Also there is no 'canned laughter' either which can be so irritating. Just watch, listen and enjoy.

  • So true to life - excellent

Brilliantly perceptive view of life inside a street pub of the old type. "Royle family" type scenarios. Characters all wonderfully portrayed. Deserved a long running series Highly recommended

  • CLEVER WELL WRITTEN COMEDY

This is Series 1 & 2 of Early Doors, a clevery, well written comedy series, set in the ficticious pub, The Grapes, two of the people involved in the creation of the series are Craig Cash and the late Caroline Aherne, of The Royle Family fame and the high standard of each episode reflects their involvement, Its got it all, its funny, a bit sad at times, situations most of us who are or come from working class homes find absolutely believable, the characters are believeable - without this, the series simply would not work. The writers only did the two series, I wish there had been more, having said that, I sort of understand why, its best to finish when you are on top and leave people wanting more, other British comedy series went on for far too long.

  • Massively underated program!

Massively underated program. Brilliantly written, reminds me of people I grew up around and the being in those good old proper pubs with family. The casting is great, everyone's performance are spot on!

  • A blast from the past

Bought this after seeing the excellent live show to remind me of the TV series. Good 'real-life' type Northern humour. DVD quality OK given the age of the recordings.

  • British sit-com at it's best.

Brilliantly writen by Craig Cash (Dave in The Royal Family) It is based on a pub and the regulars that use it. Really funny throughout.

  • More chuckles than laugh out loud

I have watched many, many sit-coms and this is up there with the best. Set in the local - the action or should I say inaction - remains firmly within the pub. The characters are ordinary (with the exception of the two cops) people and I'm sure we can all recognise one or other of the stereotypes. Very, very funny and if there is a better one out there I would like to see it. Thoroughly enjoyable!!!
