i decided to buy the dvd red dwarf-series as a christmas present for one of my sons, and to see how happy he was on christmas morning when given to him was fantastic thanks to ebay.
One of the best series they made and everyone was waiting for this series of 3 years in which time one of the creators left to do the sitcom 10%ers, however whilst auditioning for 10%ers they found Chloe Annet who would go on to star in red dwarf as listers long lost love from a another dimension. Also this is the series where we find out the end to te cliffhanger at the end of series 6 where the crew are attacked by there future selves, It is also the series that Ace Rimmer returns however he is dieing so he asks Rimmer to becom the nez=xt ace, Meanwhile lister and the gang whilst off on a curry hunt in the 20th century accidental push JFK assassin out of the window, Kryten ruins Jane austin world by bring, a tank! In the same episode Kryten also finds out ha has a brother able who is addicted to Ultrazone Also We have the episode where lister loses his arm to the epideme virus and whilst trying to get him a new arm they find out who stole there mothership Red DwarfRead full review
I finally caved in and brought this DVD to complete my Red Dwarf Set. Arguably after series 6 things just went down hill a little for the RD posse, but since the box sits nicely on the shelf helping to complete the red dwarf logo on the spines, at £8 its actually a bargin and a must for all hardened fans. Couple that with the fact that the Easter Special is coming soon - even though I didnt like series 7 and didnt even bother to watch all of Series 8, its just something that belongs in my collection. Best of the episodes? Probably Tikka to Ride with its interesting twist on the JFK assassination. Overall some funny moments, but nothing compared with the earlier series.
Boom! The starbug exploded. Then the words "To be continued" showed on the screen. This is how series 6 left the Red Dwarf franchise and two years on from that the series 7 was aired. After problems with the Grant/Naylor break up and Chris Barrie wanting out, many people feared that their wouldn't be a series 7, but there was and it was great. With 8 episodes instead of the usual 6, series 7 included some of Red Dwarf's best work. The storylines and humor was pretty spot on, with the re-introduction of Kochanski (which turned a few male heads) bringing a new edge to the genre. There's only one real problem and that is why it's got a good instead of an Excellent. The only problem with it is that in some cases it can be a comedy drama instead of a sit-com. Instead of a "blow after blow" of jokes it also focuses on the storyline side more which sort of takes off the familiar effect of jokes and gags. Though the shows are still very entertaining, maybe it's because of the friendship break up but it doesn't seem to have the seem effect that the other series had. Don't get me wrong: this is a great series and if your a fan of the Dwarf boys you've got a real treat in store, but it just isn't "as" good as the other series in my opinion. But what the smeg, it's Red Dwarf!!!Read full review
