Triple-bill of adaptations of the popular Gilbert and Sullivan operas, from director Rodney Greenberg. In 'The Pirates of Penzance' (1982), a young man is mistakenly apprenticed to a gang of pirates, and when he falls in love with a Major-General's daughter, the pirates want to marry his other daughters too. In 'The Mikado' (1982), the son of the Mikado escapes an arranged marriage and arrives in the town of Titipu disguised as a musician. Finally, in 'HMS Pinafore' (1982), a young sailor falls for his captain's daughter.
Marked down due to the dreadful performance of Frankie Howard in HMS Pinafore. He ruins a perfectly adequate production as he can’t sing! Fairly important in some of the most iconic songs in the show.
The Mikado and Pirates of Penzance are adequate performances
