We came home with one of these after being disappointed in not finding one made by more familiar manufacturers. Philips often is into low budget designs, Grundig non existent on our shelves here and Motorola not even in the business. Why isnt one of our own companies in the United States making quality for us here? It just aint the same when it comes from elsewhere cause the standards just aint so hot. Seriously Sony makes a nicer set than anyone else giving us an option and thats always been the case. Thats made them the leaders in this marketplace by default. Im tired of it personally.
What I like about the TV is that it has a great 480i resolution that looks better than a 1080i LCD TV when the 1080i TV is on a 480i channal. Meaning that when you are watching 1080i LCD TV on a HD channal the picture is great, but when you watch a regular channal which by the way there's only about 20 HD channals and the rest of the 100 and something channals are 480i. So if you want to wait a while for cable to cath up to the whole HD thing buy a sony wega. The thing I don' like about it is that it is heavy that and that not much of a complaint except if you have to move it.
I think this is an amazing TV. The picture quality is the best I've seen for a non-HD TV. If you're looking for a great TV at a very good value, without having to spend thousands for an Flat-screen HDTV, then go with this top of the line Flat Screen Tube TV.
A simple, HUGE CRT television. Very heavy but clear picture. Needed to replace another CRT TV and this came up on eBay as a great bargain. The sound is incredible with surround switched on.
This beats any new CRT flat TV on sale today, of no name or average name brand. SONY is one the top brands. Wish they still made those CRT TVs.
