Having raised the alarm, Perkins passionately addresses how Americans can work to create a more peaceful and stable world for future generations.  , The runaway bestseller that has generated a major movie dealand an international dialoguewith over 170,000 copies sold in hardcover and seven weeks on the "New York Times" list Economic hit men, John Perkins writes, are highly paid professionals who cheat countries around the globe out of trillions of dollars. Their tools include fraudulent financial reports, rigged elections, payoffs, extortion, sex, and murder. They play a game as old as Empire but one that has taken on terrifying dimensions during this time of globalization. John Perkins should knowhe was an economic hit man for an international consulting firm that worked to convince developing countries to accept enormous loans and to funnel that money to U.S.corporations. Once these countries were saddled with huge debts, the American government and international aid agencies were able to request their pound of flesh in favors, including access to natural resources, military cooperation, and political support. "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" is the story of one mans experiences inside the intrigue, greed, corruption and little-known government and corporate activities that America has been involved in since World War II, and which have dire consequences for the future of democracy and the world. • Amazing history of government corruption

An eye opening history of how big business manipulated the US and other governments in order to get rich. The author reveals devious behind the scenes activities that usually resulted in destruction of foreign human rights. This information should be taught in public schools so that we all are aware of all activities this country is capable of. This type of government corruption should be eliminated. I found this book hard to put down and highly recommend it.

  • The real story is the best story.

This book was the beginning of my understanding of why America gets involved with so much war and that the majority of the masses are not aware of. John Perkins really did a great job yelling his story and the part that he played in our government's take over of other countries of natural resources and wealth, also how it was his job to manipulate statistics to present to foreign leaders and how the military is basically used as the enforcer for privately owned corporations, and how he regrets helping it become what it is today
