Garmin GPS units allow you to define over 100 datums when marking your own waypoints. The eMap could even help you navigate a pirate treasure map once you interpreted the correct datums from the legend. Simply press the Go To button twice in a row to create a waypoint at your location.With two AA batteries, you get up to 12 hours of map data on an extra-large display. Great GPS
As an older guy with eye issues, i find the Garmin E-Map screen easy to view and easy to load up the mapsource cd-rom. I'm a low tech person and related to this GPS very well. I also like the Sun/Moon feature too. As far as the weather proof complaints in earlier reviews just get a cell phone waterproof pouch that you can operate the E-Map thru the clear plastic. Garmin is a good choice for boaters
