Good, not as good as the previous version

The reason for purchasing the NS-HDRAD2 was the older ver has features I really like. I used the old ver in my shop, and when I walk in, flip on the lights and the radio would power right up from the wall outlet. And, the older ver also has the external antenna, which, where I live pulls in the weak stations. The newer HDRAD2 will not power up when you apply the juice to it, you have to manually hit the power button each time. No biggie, just not what I had hoped for. The reception is somewhat poorer with the built-in antenna. The NEW unit is ok if you live in a strong signal area. I would much rather find another older NS-HDRAD.

    Very disappointed

I have an older version of this radio that works well so I wanted to have a second one in another room. Before buying it, I move the older one to the new room and it received several HD stations very well so I thought the new one would do just the same but I was sadly disappointed. The new radio worked to pick up regular FM stations but did not get the HD stations that the older one did. Very poor HD reception - almost like the antenna was not connected or the tuner was bad. So, I bought a second radio at Best Buy and it was just the same - very poor HD station reception. So my conclusion is that the newer generation of this radio was produced by a different manufacturer with different parts and just does not perform the same as the old one.

Radio is like-new. Shipping was super fast. Packaging was very professional. Reception is OK, hard to pick up HD signal on weak stations. Hard to get batteries in. Nice size, will memorize the HD channels, solid build, nice display. Speakers are small, so sound is lacking, but I plug the headphone jack into an input of my stereo, the result sounds good.

  • Great sound, lousy preset design.

Sounds really good. Picks up the station that my old radio couldn't. Presets must have been and after thought. I cant believe someone designed it like this. It holds 20, everytime you change the preset it automatically goes to the highest stored station so everytime you change the station via preset button you have to scroll through all the stored stations. Dumb ass all the way. Just store your favorite 3-5 stations to make this less irritating.

  • Good if you have access.

Hd radio never took off as big as some hoped for. If you live near an area that has several fm stations. Chances are you will enjoy this type of radio. It's built well and sounds good given its size. Just wish it had a line out to feed a better audio device .

  • Nice, with one glitch.

Everything works fine - the glitch is that it does not remember its settings when the power is removed. I have it set up to provide digital reception for my regular stereo, plugged into the switched outlet at the back of the stereo with the output routed to one of the stereo's inputs [an output jack on the back would be nice]. As such, I would like it to come on, tuned to the station I customarily listen to, when I turn on the stereo. It does not do that [although another model, NS-HDRAD from the same manufacturer does], requiring me to turn on the radio and tune it every time I power-on the stereo.

  • Great HD radio for the Price

I had wanted to purchase an HD FM radio for some time but prices held me back until now. The Insignia NS-HDRAD2 Tabletop stereo HD Radio works well and easy to use (of course CD quality sound is offered on digital signals). It is versatile, comes with an ac adapter, the headphone sound is great (or it can be used as a connection to an external amplifier). There are a few Cons to report (all the Pros have been mentioned): 1) Only 10 presets; I can only edit them by deleting all ten and then reentering those I want. 2) The external antenna jack is for a single element "pig tale" provided (plugging it in with a 1/8" stereo plug that disengages the built in antenna); I would have liked an "F" connector instead (or a 300 ohm twin lead terminal). 3) The buttons are close together on the top and at night I inadvertently hit one I did not intend to hit if I am not careful.

  • Good, simple HD radio

I got this for listening to the local Christian station (WEEC) that has several subchannels, each with different types of music. I didn't even have to read the instructions, using this radio is dead easy to understand, including setting the memories. Now I can listen to music without having to hear Dave Ramsey yammering on, what a relief! Great radio.

  • Nice

It's great when you get a good reception but a lot of times you have to adjust the antenna back and fourth til you get a signal or else you won't hear anything on the HD stations but the regular radios stations are good and clear..🇺🇸

  • Basic HD Radio

This appears to be about the only reasonably-priced HD radio available. And, it also appears to be "Out of Stock" at the BB stores near me. So, EB or "The Jungle" are just about the only places to find it for sale on-line. And, this radio is worth seeking out both for its price and its performance. Signal strength is very good even in our location on the outskirts of a large city. And basic operation of this unit is as simple as it gets: just extend the telescoping antenna, plug AC adapter into wall outlet, plug other end of AC adapter into radio, press the power-on button. Sound quality is really quite good through the small speaker, probably owing much to the excellence of HD technology, with no fading in and out as is the case with analog FM signals. A good HD signal will produce sound quality that rivals either XM or streaming over I'net. And, unlike XM or I'Net, receiving HD radio signals is FREE, once you've paid for the radio.
