    Strawberry tub

Easy to put together, the planting pockets are easily unclipped however. It's a pity it didn't come with a non rotting permeable base, so that it could be easily periodically rotated, necessitating the customer to bodge one himself. Likewise, something to keep the net post central to the watering tube would have improved the look of the thing at almost no additional expense, something else left for the customer to make if they think similarly. Bought as a present, and when put together it looked a bit two bob, which was disappointing. Looked a lot better when planted up, and hopefully this will improve with time and care.

    More Cons than Pros

Cons :- Flimsy sides until the barrel is completely constructed. These sides need careful handling during construction. Separate, slot-in, firmer sides would have been better and easier to construct. Definitely needs an extra pair of hands during construction. The watering tube could have been a solid pipe, the type supplied is the same type used in 'through the wall' extractor fans. Fitting the small buckets was difficult, To overcome this I used contact adhesive, took longer but the end result was more solid., Pros :- Once assembled it seems quite solid, although I haven't added compost yet. A good idea and well thought out during the design phase. If the manufacturer take the above cons into consideration it would get 5 stars.

  • Space Saving Strawberry Barrel!

I had one of these strawberry barrels out on the balcony when I lived in a high rise flat and it was a great space saving way to grow produce - sadly when I moved I lost parts of it and some of the barrel was damaged so had to bin it - now I have a garden and have been growing strawberries in a raised bed and in the borders but want to free up that space for other things so didn't think twice about getting another strawberry barrel! There are a few parts mainly made of plastic and wire which is a bit fiddly to put together but I managed it on my own. It is quite lightweight until the 80 litres of compost is added so should be placed where you intend it to stay before filling!! Plenty of slots around the sides and at the top to add strawberry plants with a central tube to allow watering throughout during dry spells. Also included is a net to prevent the birds from getting to the crop. As the barrel is round, it may not always be possible to position it so that sun reaches all the way round for maximum growth but even one side and the top being filled with plants can produce a good harvest if the weather, water and fertilizer is well balanced! Guess you could also use it for herbs, tumbling tomatoes or other plants too!

  • Strawberry planter

It is very fragile to construct and cups easily fall out and for that reason it is overpriced. I do have it planted up now however and it feels more sturdy and the central hose makes it easy to water the plants.

  • worst planter i have had.

did not believe bad reviews but i am afraid these where true badly made you need a mastic gun to hold it together.i am retired engineer and i found this trying .

  • Strawberry planter

Cheap overpriced cardboard rubbish. Impossible to assemble. Unlikely to last to another year. Decent idea poorly executed. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. -Returned. Having a look at it cost me £7.00 in return postage!! Would like to give it No stars.

  • Strawberry Barrel Planter

Reasonable quality for the cost. Strong fingers required to set it up. The net to put over the top when fruiting is a good idea.

  • Contained strawberries.

A bit fiddly to put together singlehanded, but sturdy once you get there. Must be in position before you fill it. I think it took around 80 litres of compost to fill it, so heavy. Hopefully, the slugs will now have to look elsewhere.☺

  • Strawberry barrel

I was very pleased when i found the potato barrel. I have been using the potato barrel for a few years which is of good quality. Buying the strawberry barrell did not disapoint.
